Adult Rowers (18+ years) Competitive
Going for gold...
We work with the academic year and recruit new athletes towards the end of the summer to begin training in September ready for the next season. Occasionally spots become available through the year so we keep a record of all applications to ensure everyone gets the opportunity to try out when an appropriate space becomes available.
Due to the nature of the sport we are limited in the number of spaces we can offer. Number of boats and water sessions available dictate our maximum capacity.
Training
Our Adult squad have regular water sessions at the weekends in the mornings as well as land based training in the evenings during the week.
Training is a mix of water and land based sessions. Land based training is a vital part of building and maintaining an athlete's technique and stamina. Programs are designed to complement and emulate the rowing movement.
Tuesday 19.00 - 20.00 Land Training
Thursdays 19.00 - 20.00 Land Training
Saturday Mornings - Water Session
Sunday Mornings - Water Session
*Depending on numbers the land training evenings can vary.
Christchurch Rowing Club is fortunate to have a large adult squad of both male and female members, ranging from new comers to seasoned rowers. The primary focus of the club is to compete in the Hants and Dorset Coastal Championships which consists of 13 regattas held by various clubs along the coast with crews competing to win as many races as possible and claim the championship title. There are also opportunities to enter river events and to row in large and small boats, sweep or scull.
