World Cup III in Sabaudia in Italy on 4th to 6th June

Former Christchurch Rowing Club junior sculler Matthew Aldridge was selected as part of the GB Rowing team to race at World Cup III in Sabaudia in Italy on 4th to 6th June. GB Rowing sent a Young "Project Paris" squad and for most of the rowers it was their first senior race.

Matthew was rowing in the GBR1 coxless four, along with three other members of Oxford Brookes University Boat Club where he now rows. After coming second in their heat, they gained a place in the A final by winning the Repechage. In the final they had an excellent start, leading until half way. They finished in Silver Medal position behind the Italians, beating the current World Champions, Poland, into third place.
