16 year old Will TATE and 17 year old Sol HEWITT from Christchurch Rowing Club attended the Home International Trials at the Royal Albert Dock on Sunday 14th July 2019. This was for a place to represent England in the junior double sculls in Strathclyde on Saturday 27th July 2019, racing against Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
Both boys were understandably nervous about the thought of having to race 18 year olds but with a time trial being their preferred option they were happy and relaxed as they went out on the water. 1500 metres later they had finished with a very strong race under their belts knowing they had put their all into it. A nail biting 3 hours later saw the results being published and incredibly they won the event by one second over Gloucester Hartbury enabling them to go to Scotland having beaten 9 other strong crews.
A big thankyou to all at Christchurch Rowing Club for supporting them over the last few weeks.
