It was a small but perfectly formed gathering for CRC crews at Southsea this year with 6 of our ladies and 4 of our men representing the club. Positioned amongst a long line of south coast crews with boats of all shapes and sizes from clubs like Deal, Herne Bay, Shoreham, Worthing and Bexhill as well as our own regatta clubs, it was certainly a big affair. Southsea gave us glorious sunshine all day with wild water conditions testing us all and even seeing Itchen Novice 4 capsize very early on in the day!
First CRC race of the day was our Ladies Junior 4 with Emma Brangan, Emma Fairclough, Julia Fabrizi and Allison Fortt, coxed by Ed Erwin, qualifying first in their heat and coming 4th in the final. Not bad for a scratch crew out of 12 crews in total, well done ladies.
Great start for the Mens Junior A with Connor Marshall, Morgan Durward, Miles Weekes, Ned Clarke and cox Harry Pearson. After catching a devastating crab a few hundred metres in, they pulled it back to take first in their heat. Sensational row! Their new combination worked a treat in their final too with superb rowing from start to finish ending up with a great win for CRC.
Ladies masters 4 had a competitive start, Poole A out of turn first, then Christchurch, then BTC but Christchurch stormed into the lead pulling ahead on their way back. Another great win for Ladies Masters.
