On Saturday, the Christchurch Rowing Club Men’s Senior crew of Duncan Yeabsley, Mike Joscelyne, Tom Horsburgh and Liam Steele went to Reading Amateur Regatta in the Open 4- Category.
Reading is recognised as a major river regatta leading up to Henley Royal Regatta. As such, results achieved by crews contribute to Henley qualifying status. With this in mind, the crew, who are seeking qualification for Henley, knew that performance as well as result was very important on the day. Having been drawn in the Tier 3 category under the new ranking system, the crew should have been confident of progression through the rounds and so sought to put good times down in each race. The crew won their event comfortably but, more importantly, managed a time 4th fastest across all three tiers of the competition.
The crew races again at Marlow next Saturday, hoping again to impress the Henley Stewards
