Christchurch Rowing Club hosted a Hants & Dorset Regatta last Saturday.
During the course of the day, 58 races were held on the 1200m course which stretched from the CRC clubhouse to Christchurch Sailing Club, where competitors turned around two buoys before racing back to the rowing club.
The river bank was packed with spectators enjoying the sun and the one-on-one racing throughout the day.
Host club Christchurch were the most successful team on the water, winning the Victor Ludorum for the highest placed club at the regatta.
Christchurch winners of the day were the Ladies Masters, the J16 Boys and the Veteran 50+ crews.
The Ladies Masters Crew of F. Standley, E. Kelly, R. Williams, L. Hart (Stroke) and cox A. Nolan beat Southampton A in the final. Their victory held special significance as it was the first time the Ladies Masters has been recognized by Hants & Dorset as a championship event, but more importantly because the trophy was bought in memory of Mike Wall who contributed so much to rowing and especially Christchurch Rowing Club, he sadly passed away last year. His daughter presented the cup to rowers she has grown up knowing and who knew her dad well.
The Christchurch J16 crew of C. Beets, J. Lovell, O. Greenhill, S. Cooney beat Poole A in a straight final.
The Veteran 50+ crew beat Poole A in a straight final. Runner-up medals also went to Christchurch Junior Ladies, Junior Men, Veteran 40+ and Senior Men crew.
