Double Trouble at BTC Head
BTC Head saw the windiest and roughest conditions for a head race so far for these southern clubs. The crews had a head wind throughout the race making it very uncomfortable and catching out the less experienced rowers. BTC Head brought crews all the way from Kent and the Isle of Wight to compete on the 5k course. Christchurch had two successes with a men’s junior river pair; Richard Quinn and Marlowe Tamlyn who had a triumphant win, driving through the tough conditions to have a strong finish. A novice men’s crew also came a close second following a university crew in the second division where the wind peaked creating coastal like conditions. This crew was made up of Jack Gaston (stroke) Isaac Gaston, Marcus Lewis, Sean Cooney and Grace Tebbutt (cox), this crew also had the fastest time for Christchurch on the day. Christchurch also put in 2 ladies novice crews who fought a good fight but unfortunately didn’t make podium positions. Christchurch will be holding the next Head on Sunday 22nd of March where these crews will be looking for wins on home territory.
