Christchurch Leaves Their Mark (Avon County)
Christchurch Rowing Club set out for an early morning in Bath to compete at the Avon Head, an unfamiliar course and competition. The day started off sunny and still but as it progressed a wind developed and rain soon followed. Conditions for spectators and support teams were quickly becoming difficult with the inclement weather soon affecting matters away from the water. A range of Christchurch’s singles and eights set out to make their mark against crews they have never competed against before. The river conditions were conducive to rowing and the streams were friendly to each team. Crews ranging from WJ13 to WJ18. Christchurch Rowing Club saw a victory in four categories; WJ15 1x Lizzie Lander, WJ14 1x Stephanie Dodsworth, J14 1x Ben Cavil and J13 1x Lennon Harding Wade. Christchurch also saw two second places from WJ13 1x Keira Browning and WJ18 8+ made up of Dani Elmy-Liddiard (stroke) Rosie Ashley-East, Holly Strange, Libby Perry, Amelia Wood-Power, Millie Wells, Ellie Brad, Sophie Heath and Grace Tebbutt (cox).
