Christchurch Rowing Club notched up two small boat wins and third place in the Victor Ludorum at Coalporters’ Regatta on the river Itchen at Northam on Saturday.
Jasmine Hunt steered well to take first place in Ladies Junior Sculls over local scullers from Southampton ARC and Itchen Imperial finishing five lengths up. The CRC Senior Men’s Pair, H Foley, W Wakelin(str) dominated over the second half of the course securing a six length victory over BTC in second place and Lymington in third.
The Christchurch rowers were also competing at Walton Regatta on the river Thames where Charley Wedderburn triumphed in an all-Christchurch final beat club mate Beth Bailey by one length to win Women’s J15 single sculls. Lizzie Lander and Libby Boothe(str) convincingly defeated Thames RC with a comfortable three length lead in Women’s J15 Double Sculls.
Rounding off a busy weekend of competition the Christchurch Junior Squad were making their presence felt at the Wessex Junior Regatta in the pastoral grounds of Bryanston School. This event allows relative newcomers to gain initial racing experience. The day yielded six wins in Boy’s and Girl’s single, double and quadruple sculling events at J13 and J14 level.
